Rosette-forming Glioneuronal Tumors in the Posterior Third Ventricle.

چکیده
tumor found almost exclusively within the fourth ventricle. These grade I tumors were first included in the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification for the central nervous system in 20071. Since then, approximately 49 cases have been published1,2. There are no reported cases of RGNT within the third ventricle, although this tumor has also been described in the pineal region, the tectum and within the aqueduct2. Supratentorial localization is quite rare, with only three published: one was found in the septum pellucidum3, another within the optic nerve in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) patient1 and one in a patient with multiple RGNT in the lateral ventricle2. The authors report the first case series in the literature of RGNT occurring within the posterior third ventricle.

The expanding family of glioneuronal tumors.
Three new entities have been recently added to the group of glioneuronal tumors in the most recent update of the World Health Organization classification of tumors of the central nervous system: papillary glioneuronal tumor, rosetted glioneuronal tumor with neuropil-like islands, and rosette-forming glioneuronal tumor of the fourth ventricle. These tumors are relatively infrequent lesions, and ...

The clinical and pathologic features of two glioneuronal neoplasms newly incorporated in the 2007 revision of the WHO classification of nervous system tumors are reviewed. These are the papillary glioneuronal tumor and the rosette-forming glioneuronal tumor of the fourth ventricle.

Rosette-forming glioneuronal tumour (RGNT) of the fourth ventricle is one of the newly described primary tumours of the central nervous system. These tumours have two components of both neurocytic and glial areas but usually the glial component of the tumour predominates. They have biphasic cytoarchitecture with two elements; neurocytic rosettes resembling Homer-Wright rosettes, and astrocytic ...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE In 2007, the WHO classification of brain tumors was extended by three new entities of glioneuronal tumors: papillary glioneuronal tumor (PGNT), rosette-forming glioneuronal tumor of the fourth ventricle (RGNT) and glioneuronal tumor with neuropil-like islands (GNTNI). Focusing on clinical characteristics and outcome, the authors performed a comprehensive individual patien...

Since the appearance in 2000 of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification for central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms, numerous descriptions of new entities or variants have appeared in the literature. In the group of neuronal and mixed glioneuronal neoplasms are lesions with distinctive morphological features that are still not included in a precise classification, including extraventr...
متن کاملRosette-forming glioneuronal tumor in the pineal gland and the third ventricle: a case with radiological and clinical implications.
A 39-year-old man presented with more than 20 years history of episodic headache and one year history of dizziness, impaired vision and memory disorders. Computed tomography and Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cystic mass involving the pineal gland, tectum and the third ventricle and obstruction of the aqueduct. Interestingly, the fourth ventricle was not involved in this case. The pathol...
